Translate여행지에서 오래 기억에 남는 것은 때로 이름난 장소가 아니라 무심코 지나친 한 장면이다. 식당과 카페에서 마주친 사람들, 공원을 걷거나 잠시 쉬어가는 이들, 도로와 나무, 테이블 위의 사물까지 안다은 작가의 시선은 낯선 장소에서 발견한 평범한 풍경에 머문다. 낯선 환경이 불안을 불러일으키기도 하지만, 그 안에서 마주한 익숙한 일상의 모습은 오히려 안정감을 주는 장면이 된다. 작가는 그 순간 기억에 남은 빛과 색, 공기와 온도를 떠올리며 화면을 구성하고, 장소 자체보다 그곳에서 무엇을 보고 어떻게 감각했는지에 집중한다.

What stays with us from a journey is sometimes not a famous destination, but a scene we might otherwise have passed by. People encountered in restaurants and cafés, those walking or resting in parks, roads and trees, and objects on a table all draw AN DA EUN’s attention to ordinary scenes found in unfamiliar places. While unfamiliar surroundings can heighten a sense of unease, the familiar rhythms of everyday life found within them can instead offer a sense of comfort. Recalling the light, color, air, and temperature of each moment, the artist reconstructs these impressions on canvas, focusing less on the place itself than on what she saw and sensed there.

The figures in her paintings are not protagonists of particular narratives, but anonymous presences who simply pass through. Talking, walking, or pausing to rest, they leave room for viewers to project their own experiences onto the scene. Once centered on personal belongings inside a bag as a way of documenting everyday life, her gaze has since expanded to encompass people and places, nature and the city. Yet throughout this shift, her practice remains grounded in an attentiveness to everyday moments that might otherwise go unnoticed and the emotional traces they leave behind.
