Park Jisu’s practice is grounded in the materials and techniques of East Asian painting, yet it does not remain within traditional forms or conventional emotional registers. Her canvases feature extremely close-up views of figures and bodies—hands, faces, and fragments of musical instruments—reflecting the artist’s view of life as a single orchestra. In these works, moments in which beings of different “timbres” inhabit their own places are carefully captured, and her delicate brushwork combined with realistic depiction heightens the sensory and emotional density of lived experience.

Recurring scenes of family gestures and everyday moments reveal the weight and quiet beauty embedded in what we call an “ordinary life.” Rather than seeking meaning in distant ideals, Park discovers it within the closest relationships, layering emotional depth through images such as hands pressing piano keys, the act of holding a candle, or a fleeting expression. This sustained and attentive observation reflects the condition of contemporary individuals living through repetitive realities, allowing disparate fragments of life to come together as a single melodic flow that continues to resonate long after.
