Ko Eunyoung reinterprets embroidery, a traditional medium, in a contemporary way, focusing mainly on still lifes and landscapes. Rather than remaining with the conventional method of meticulously stitching a single object, she composes her works as though capturing a scene, creating painterly illusions reminiscent of oil or acrylic painting. Everyday views, such as a desk or a mountain landscape, reveal particularly strong painterly qualities, at times evoking the colors and compositions of Van Gogh or Matisse. Yet Ko’s embroidery is not a simple imitation of painting; it achieves an original narrative through the unique texture of thread and the temporality accumulated in repetitive gestures. By dissolving the boundary between painting and craft, her work expands embroidery into a new visual language, offering fresh and unexpected possibilities within a familiar medium.

길 모퉁이를 넓게 차지하고 있던 연희동의 한 꽃집을 그렸습니다. 하얀 벽돌과 2층 창에 둘러진 하얀 난간 때문에 꽃집은 멀리서도 눈에 띄었고, 전체적으로 흰 건물은 앞에 늘어선 꽃들을 더 돋보이게 해주었습니다. 

이런 길거리에 있는 꽃집은 지나는 사람을 불러들일만한 사랑스러운 입구를 가지고 있어야 한다고 생각했습니다. '저 입구에 실제로 사람이 걸어 들어간다면.' 하는 생각을 하면서 주변에 꽃을 수놓을 때 가장 행복했습니다.
