Translate방석영 작가의 작업에서 먹은 단순한 선이나 색의 재료가 아니라, 화면 위에서 움직임과 시간, 감각의 밀도를 발생시키는 물질로 작동한다. 화선지 위를 가로지르는 거대한 붓질은 일정한 형태를 설명하기보다, 몸의 리듬이 남긴 궤적처럼 화면을 밀고 당기며 공간을 만들어낸다. 검은 먹과 흰 여백, 번짐과 마름, 속도와 멈춤이 교차하는 과정 속에서 작품은 추상과 형상, 풍경과 인물, 내면과 외부 세계 사이를 유동적으로 오간다.
작품 속 인물과 도시적 풍경, 소용돌이치는 선들은 하나의 서사로 고정되지 않고 계속해서 흩어지고 다시 연결된다. 작가는 전통 수묵의 절제된 재료를 바탕으로 하면서도 그 안에 현대적 속도감과 불안정한 생동감, 그리고 삶을 바라보는 해학적 태도를 함께 담아낸다. 작품은 때로는 거칠고 유머러스하게, 때로는 깊고 사유적으로 확장되며, 복잡한 세계의 흐름 속에서 자신을 관찰하고 조율해 나가는 존재의 감각을 드러낸다.

In Bang Seogyeong’s work, ink functions not merely as a material for line or color, but as a substance that generates movement, time, and sensory density on the surface. The sweeping brushstrokes that traverse the hanji paper do not describe fixed forms; rather, like traces left by the rhythm of the body, they push and pull the composition, creating a shifting sense of space. Through the interplay of black ink and white margins, spreading and drying, speed and pause, her work moves fluidly between abstraction and figuration, landscape and human presence, the inner self and the external world.

The figures, urban landscapes, and swirling lines within her works do not settle into a single narrative, but continually disperse and reconnect. While rooted in the restrained material language of traditional ink painting, Bang brings into it a contemporary sense of velocity, unstable vitality, and a humorous perspective on life. At times rough and playful, at times deeply contemplative, her works expand into a visual field that reveals a sense of existence constantly observing and recalibrating itself within the complex flow of the world.

Translate‘텔레커넥션 Teleconnection’이란 대기과학에서 먼 거리(일반적으로 수천 킬로미터)에 걸쳐 서로 관련된 기후 이상 현상인데 그것은 파동에 의해 기압 변동이 전달됨으로써 일어난다. 인연, 나비효과, 양자역학처럼 거리를 뛰어넘어 모든 것을 연결 짓는 ‘파동’이라는 것이 결국 우주를 이루는 핵심이 아닐까.

가시광선 밖의 파동을 가진 빛들은 인간이 볼 수 없듯이 인간이 알아낼 수 없는 차원에서 일어나는 일들은 질서나 법칙을 정립할 수가 없기에 그저 인간은 그것들을 우연, 랜덤의 사건이라고 표현한다. 하지만 그 일들은 인간의 상상 이상의 질서 안에서 거대하고 분주하게 일어나는 것들이다. 인연 또한 두 사람의 세계가 그 만남을 위해 이렇게 저렇게 고차원의 파동과 순환에 의해 조절되고 일궈져 가는, 또 다른 형태의 텔레커넥션이다.

In atmospheric science, “teleconnection” refers to interrelated climate anomalies across long distances (typically thousands of kilometers). These anomalies occur through the transmission of pressure fluctuations via waves. Like tie, the butterfly effect, and quantum mechanics, aren’t these “waves,” which connect everything across distances, ultimately the very essence of the universe?

Just as light with waves beyond the visible spectrum is invisible to humans, events occurring beyond human comprehension can’t be found as order or law, and so humans simply describe them as coincidences or random events. However, these events unfold on a grand scale and in a hectic pace, within an order far beyond human imagination. Tie, too, is another form of teleconnection, what the worlds of two people are regulated and cultivated through high-dimensional waves and cycles in order to meet.
