Translate이소영 작가는 유년시절부터 겪은 잦은 이사의 경험을 토대로 해체와 조합이 반복되는 길거리들을 그려나간다. 작가는 작품을 통해 불안정성의 지속 가능성에 대한 물음과 지역마다 계급화 된 거리들을 통해 인간 사회의 본질을 탐구한다. 회화적 성격이 매우 짙은 작가의 작품은 사진적 장면을 극복하는 붓질로서 완성된다. 물성이 그대로 드러나는 두꺼운 터치와  간결한 색의 조합은 본질을 탐구하는 작가의 작업적 내러티브에 감각적 층위를 더해주는 역할을 담당한다.  거대 시스템 안에 존재하는 개개인의 서사와 가치를 길거리의 풍경으로 드러내는 작가의 작품은 이성과 감성안에서 묘한 균형을 이루고 있는 듯 하다.

Artist Lee So Young paints streets in a state of constant dismantling and recomposition, drawing from her childhood experiences of frequent relocation. Through her work, she raises questions about the sustainability of instability and explores the essence of human society as revealed in the stratified streets of different regions. Her practice is deeply painterly, transcending photographic scenes through brushstrokes that assert themselves on the surface. Thick, tactile strokes and concise combinations of color add sensory layers to her narrative of probing underlying truths. By rendering the stories and values of individuals within vast systems as street landscapes, Lee’s work seems to achieve a delicate balance between reason and emotion.
