Translate동양화를 전공한 김유림 작가는 전통 재료인 한지를 기반으로 추상 회화를 전개한다. 한지에 스며드는 물감의 유기적 흐름과 디지털 알고리즘이 만든 비정형적 패턴은 전통과 현대, 물질과 비물질, 유기성과 기계성이 공존하는 독창적 언어를 이룬다.

Trained in traditional Korean painting, Kim Yoorim develops abstract works on hanji, a traditional Korean paper. The organic flow of pigment seeping into the paper intertwines with the irregular patterns generated by digital algorithms, creating a unique visual language where tradition and modernity, the material and immaterial, the organic and the mechanical coexist.

Her practice explores the shifting boundaries of perception and sensation, layering, erasing, and revealing traces of time and memory. This process visualizes fragments of recollection that never fully take shape, while revealing reality as not a fixed form but a constellation of ever-changing traces. The movement of light and color in her compositions appears still yet continuously transforms, prompting each viewer to arrive at a different interpretation. By bridging tradition and digital media, Kim’s painting goes beyond visual experimentation to invite reflection on the layered and uncertain ways in which we perceive the world.
