Born and raised in the city, Youngjin Chae finds a big city distressing and nervous. This is why rural landscape has been the perfect inspiration for him. When Chae was a boy, his father took him out of town to the countryside every weekend where he could play in nature and connect with it. He recalls that time the favorite moment of his childhood memories that bring out the happiest part of him. Naturally his paintings depict nature and nameless landscapes he discovered and continuously discovering. What to others can be ‘just a landscape’ becomes scene of colors, textures, and amazing contrasts of light and shadow with his touch. Chae offers the inspirational countryside getaways to the viewers.
