Translate조누리 작가는 끊임없이 형태를 바꾸며 흘러가는 구름을 통해 시간과 감정을 기록한다. 푸른 낮의 하늘에서 빛이 번지는 해질녘, 먹구름이 드리운 순간까지 그의 화면에 등장하는 하늘은 특정한 장소보다 ‘지금’이라는 시간에 가깝다. 전선과 나뭇가지, 날아가는 새처럼 간헐적으로 등장하는 현실의 흔적은 그 순간이 존재했던 시간과 장소를 짐작하게 한다. 생성되고 흩어지며 끊임없이 모습을 바꾸는 구름은 붙잡을 수 없는 시간과 그 안에서 변화하는 감정을 닮아 있다.
작가는 오일파스텔로 그려낸 화면 위에 밀랍을 더하며 사라져가는 구름의 순간을 기록한다. 녹았다가 굳으며 화면에 층을 이루는 밀랍은 작가의 표현처럼 ‘시간을 봉합하는’ 행위와 맞닿아 있다. 끊임없이 변화하고 결국 사라지는 순간을 화면에 머물게 함으로써, 조누리의 작업은 지나간 시간을 되돌리기보다 그 시간과 감정의 흔적을 기억하는 방식이 된다.

JONURY records time and emotion through clouds that drift and continuously change their form. From clear blue skies and the spreading light of dusk to moments when dark clouds gather, the skies in her paintings evoke a particular moment in time more than a specific place. Occasional traces of the physical world, such as power lines, tree branches, and birds in flight, offer clues to the time and place in which each moment existed. Constantly forming, dispersing, and transforming, the clouds mirror the elusive nature of time and the emotions that shift within it.

Working with oil pastel, JONURY adds layers of beeswax to preserve fleeting moments of clouds before they disappear. As the wax melts and solidifies into layers across the surface, it echoes what the artist describes as an act of “sealing time.” By allowing moments that are constantly changing and ultimately destined to vanish to remain within the painting, JONURY’s work does not attempt to turn back time, but instead becomes a way of remembering the traces of time and emotion.
