Choi Mi Jeong’s work unfolds a bright emotional sensibility and a sense of recovery through flowers on the canvas. The recurring images of flowers—such as sunflowers, roses, water lilies, and flowering trees—do not remain merely decorative subjects, but become a painterly language that symbolizes vitality, hope, and warm moments held in memory. In her landscape works in particular, richly layered colors and repeated brushstrokes create a sense of liveliness across the canvas, transforming scenes of nature from realistic representations into spaces where emotion resides.

The female portraits that appear alongside flowers are closer to emotional images than specific depictions of individuals. The defined outlines and vivid colors in these works make the figures feel less like realistic portraits and more like scenes from memory or imagination. The contrast between intense yellow, deep blue, soft pink, and purple gives the canvas a bright energy while warmly stirring the viewer’s emotions. Through the symbolism of flowers and the power of color, Choi’s work brings forth a renewed awareness of the beauty and hope that remain within life.
