아티스티와 신라스테이가 함께하는 아트 콜라보레이션 프로젝트 ARTISTY Residency with SHILLA STAY 2026가 2026년 8월 13일부터 11월 13일까지 신라스테이 광화문에서 진행된다. 아티스티와 신라스테이는 지속적인 협업을 통해 예술과 공간이 만나는 새로운 방식을 모색해 왔으며, "ARTISTY Residency with SHILLA STAY"는 2024년과 2025년에 이어 올해 세 번째로 진행된다. 국내 최초로 호텔 객실을 예술가의 창작 공간으로 제공한 이 프로젝트는 예술가에게는 창작에 온전히 몰입할 수 있는 환경을, 관객에게는 창작이 이루어지는 과정을 가까이에서 경험할 수 있는 새로운 예술 플랫폼을 제안해 왔다. 올해 레지던시는 서울의 중심이자 다양한 문화가 교차하는 광화문에서 열린다. 세계 각국의 여행객과 비즈니스 방문객이 머무는 이 공간은 예술, 작가, 그리고 관객이 자연스럽게 만나는 장으로 확장된다. 호텔을 찾은 사람들은 완성된 작품을 감상하는 데서 나아가, 작가가 머물고 작업하며 자신만의 세계를 만들어가는 시간을 함께 경험하게 된다. 이번 레지던시에는 이찬희, 하고미, 헤진 세 명의 작가가 참여한다. 이찬희 작가는 수없이 반복되는 점의 축적을 통해 도시와 군중, 그리고 보이지 않는 관계의 구조를 화면 위에 구축한다. 가장 작은 단위가 모여 하나의 세계를 이루듯 그의 작업은 연결과 공존의 의미를 담아내며, 느린 축적이 만들어내는 깊은 울림을 보여준다. 하고미 작가는 반복되는 풍경과 곰이라는 친숙한 형상을 통해 현대인이 마주하는 감정의 흐름을 담아낸다. 불안을 극복해야 할 대상으로 바라보기보다 삶의 일부로 받아들이며, 누구나 공유하는 감정의 풍경을 담담하게 펼쳐 보인다. 그의 작업은 감정을 설명하기보다 있는 그대로 마주하게 하며, 불안과 평온이 공존하는 오늘의 삶을 섬세하게 비춘다. 헤진 작가는 일상적인 실내 공간을 통해 보이지 않는 마음의 풍경을 그린다. 절제된 공간과 은은한 빛, 익숙한 사물들은 단순한 실내를 넘어 감정이 머무는 장소로 확장되며, 평범한 일상이 지닌 위안과 회복의 가능성을 보여준다. 비어 있는 공간은 오히려 관객의 기억과 감정을 자연스럽게 머물게 하는 또 하나의 풍경이 된다. 레지던시 기간 동안에는 누구나 참여할 수 있는 Meet the Artist 프로그램이 운영된다. 관객은 작가와 직접 만나고 작업 공간을 둘러보며, 작가의 안내에 따라 직접 그림을 그려보는 시간을 갖는다. 이 프로그램은 단순히 결과물을 만드는 체험을 넘어, 작가가 작품을 바라보는 시선과 표현 방식을 함께 느껴보는 열린 예술 경험으로 구성된다. 아티스티와 신라스테이는 앞으로도 예술과 공간, 그리고 사람을 연결하는 의미 있는 협업을 이어가고자 한다. 지난 수년간 이어온 아트 프로젝트를 통해 호텔은 단순한 숙박의 공간을 넘어, 창작과 문화가 머물고 다양한 관객과 만나는 열린 플랫폼으로 확장되어 왔다. 앞으로도 이러한 시너지를 바탕으로 한국의 유망 작가들이 성장하고 더 넓은 세계와 연결될 수 있는 기회를 마련하며, 문화예술의 지속적인 발전을 위한 지원을 이어가고자 한다. 아티스티 디렉터 Julie Chung ARTISTY Residency with SHILLA STAY 2026 ARTISTY Residency with SHILLA STAY 2026, a collaborative residency presented by Artisty and Shilla Stay, will take place at Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun from August 13 to November 13, 2026. Through our ongoing partnership, Artisty and Shilla Stay have continued to explore new ways in which art and hospitality can meaningfully intersect. Now in its third year, this collaborative residency continues our shared commitment to creating an environment where artists can thrive and audiences can experience the creative process firsthand. As the first project in Korea to offer hotel guestrooms as working studios for artists, the residency has created a unique environment where artists can fully immerse themselves in their practice while inviting visitors to witness the creative process as it unfolds. Rather than presenting only completed works, the residency offers a rare opportunity to encounter art in the making and to develop a deeper, more immediate connection with the artists themselves. This year's residency takes place in Gwanghwamun, where Seoul's history and contemporary culture converge. Welcoming travelers and business visitors from around the world, Shilla Stay becomes more than a place to stay. It becomes a place where artists, art, and audiences naturally come together. Guests are invited not only to experience finished works, but also to observe the rhythm of artistic practice as each artist lives, works, and gradually shapes a world of their own. This year's residency features three artists: Lee Chanhee, Hagomi, and Hejin. Lee Chanhee constructs intricate visual landscapes through the meticulous accumulation of countless individual dots. His work reflects the rhythms of urban life, the presence of crowds, and the invisible connections that bind people together. Just as countless small elements come together to form a larger whole, his paintings speak to connection, coexistence, and the quiet strength that emerges through patient accumulation. Hagomi explores the emotional landscape of contemporary life through recurring scenes and the familiar figure of a bear. Rather than treating anxiety as something to overcome, he embraces it as an integral part of the human experience. His paintings reveal emotional landscapes that are both deeply personal and universally shared, inviting viewers to encounter emotions as they are, where uncertainty and serenity exist side by side. Hejin explores the unseen landscapes of the mind through quiet interior spaces. Restrained compositions, gentle light, and familiar objects transform ordinary rooms into places where emotions quietly reside. Her work reflects the comfort and restorative potential found in everyday life, while the openness of her spaces allows viewers' own memories and emotions to naturally settle within them. Throughout the residency, visitors are invited to participate in Meet the Artist, a public program designed to foster meaningful exchanges between artists and the public. Participants can visit the artists' studios, learn about their creative practices, and create their own paintings under the artists' guidance. More than a hands-on workshop, the program offers an opportunity to experience each artist's unique perspective and creative process, encouraging a deeper appreciation of contemporary art through direct engagement. At the heart of Artisty is a commitment to making art more accessible by creating meaningful connections between artists and audiences. Through our partnership with Shilla Stay, that vision expands beyond the digital platform, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the creative process in person.
