아티스티와 신라스테이가 전략적 제휴를 맺고 작가들의 창작 공간을 마련, ‘아티스티 레지던시 with 신라스테이’를 3월 21일부터 총 3개월간 신라스테이 구로점에서 진행한다. 

‘아티스티 레지던시 with 신라스테이’는 국내 최초로 호텔 객실을 예술가들의 작업공간으로 제공하여 예술 창작 활동을 지원하는 혁신적인 아트 프로젝트이다. 이번 레시던시는 아티스티와 신라스테이가 엄선한 국내 유망작가 3인 김동진, 이지영, 임수진 작가가 참여한다.   

김동진 작가는 일상의 버려진 사물들을 캔버스에 담아내는 작업으로 알려져 있다. 힘있는 붓질과 강렬한 색상의 그림 속 사물들은 현대인과 사회를 투영하는 메시지를 담고 있어 깊은 인상을 남긴다. 현재는 새로운 스타일을 향한 실험적인 작업을 하며, 차기 작품에 대한 기대가 크다.

이지영 작가는 어린 시절의 순수함과 동심을 표현하는 작업을 하는데, 주로 색연필과 같은 그림 도구들이 캔버스 안에서 자유롭게 움직이는 모습을 담아낸다. 발랄한 컬러를 사용하여 생동감을 주며, 현대인들이 일상의 번잡함 속에서 잃어버린 순수한 기쁨을 불러 일으킨다.

임수진 작가는 주로 목판화를 매체로 사용하여 일상의 풍경과 순간들을 따뜻하고 몽글몽글한 감성으로 담아낸다. 자작나무 판목에 조각도를 이용해 이미지를 새기고, 수채화 물감을 사용해 부드러우면서도 풍부한 색감을 더하는 방식으로 보는 이에게 새로운 시각적 경험을 제공한다. 

이 세 작가의 작업실은 매월 열리는 오픈 스튜디오 프로그램을 통해 대중에게 개방된다. 이를 통해 관람객은 작가의 실제 작업하는 모습을 직접 관찰할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 작가와 직접 소통하는 기회도 가질 수 있다. 더불어 1층 로비에서는 매월 라이브 페인팅이 작가별로 진행될 예정이다. 레지던시 종료 후 선정된 우수 작가에게는 아티스티와 신라스테이가 공동 진행하는 하반기 전시에 참여할 수 있는 기회가 주어진다.  

이번 레지던시 프로그램에서는 단순한 작업실 제공을 넘어, 조식, 피트니스 센터 등 호텔의 서비스와 편의시설을 포함하여 참여 작가들의 창작 활동을 전폭적으로 지원한다. 

아티스티는 이번 프로젝트를 통해 유망한 작가들의 예술적 잠재력을 발휘할 수 있도록 돕고, 작가, 공간, 그리고 플랫폼 간의 생산적인 상호 작용을 촉진하고자 한다. 이러한 노력은 지역 사회와의 소통 강화, 문화의 활성화, 국제적인 문화 교류의 장을 마련하는 데까지 이르러, 레지던시의 포괄적인 가치와 영향력을 넓히고자 한다.

We're excited to announce a groundbreaking collaboration between Artisty and Shilla Stay: the 𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐘 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐀 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐘, a pioneering artist residency program set to unfold over three captivating months, starting March 21st, at the Shilla Stay Guro.

For the first time in Korea, this distinctive art initiative repurposes hotel rooms into vibrant creative studios, offering a unique sanctuary for artists to dive deep into their artistic pursuits. This residency welcomes three of Korea's most promising artists—Kim Dongjin, Lee Jiyoung, and Lim Soojin—handpicked by Artisty and Shilla Stay for their unique visions and compelling narratives.

𝐊𝐢𝐦 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐣𝐢𝐧 is renowned for his canvases that capture the essence of everyday objects left behind, using bold brushstrokes and vibrant colors to embed messages reflecting contemporary society and its inhabitants.

𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐉𝐢𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 captures the essence of childhood whimsy and purity, with dynamic scenes of art tools like colored pencils in motion, invoking a sense of lost joy amidst our chaotic lives through her vibrant color palette.

𝐋𝐢𝐦 𝐒𝐨𝐨𝐣𝐢𝐧 employs the traditional technique of woodblock printing to encapsulate the serene beauty of everyday landscapes, infusing them with a tender warmth that speaks to the soul, using birch woodblocks and watercolors to craft images that resonate with soft, yet profound hues.

The residency program offers an open invitation to the public through a monthly Open Studio event. This rare opportunity allows for direct interaction and engagement with the artists, alongside scheduled live painting sessions in the lobby, further bridging the gap between art and audience.

Moreover, the residency goes beyond mere workspace provision, encompassing a holistic support system that includes hotel amenities such as breakfast and fitness center access, underscoring our commitment to nurturing the creative and physical well-being of our resident artists.
