I have the feeling that the best-lived life is one lived in the moment. There is no final or absolute me (or you, for that matter). We are in constant change, metamorphosis. My works are a kind of diary; each one is an embodiment of a “moment” – sometimes stretching over a few days, sometimes over several months. From the moment I set pen to paper, the works grew and transformed in harmony with the changes I was undergoing as I drew. My works are not mere reports of the results of changes, rather they show the motion of change itself. My transformations are, of course, outgrowths of all I once was, stories I heard in my youth, of the religious faith of my fathers, as well as more recent thoughts and impressions. These elements are embedded in my work in the form of motifs and patterns, many of them springing from my education and experience as a young Iranian artist. They came into my work spontaneously, bringing meanings as new as the work itself.
